In a world that often feels like a constant race against time, the appeal of wellness travel has steadily gained popularity and is a growing travel trend for 2024 and beyond. Whether it's the demands of work, family obligations, or the constant buzz of technology, a wellness vacation offers a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
If you are wanting to embrace a slower pace while on vacation with a focus on overall wellness, then let me introduce you to Cancun’s best wellness resort: Palmaïa House of AïA. With the unique blend of luxurious accommodations, holistic health practices, and a stunning natural setting, it is the perfect place for rest and rejuvenation. Nestled in the heart of Cancun's pristine beaches and lush landscapes, Palmaïa offers a breathtaking natural backdrop for those seeking an experience focused on health and relaxation.
Everything at this resort is centered around sustainability, community and self-care. If you have ever been intrigued by the idea of experiencing things like a Shaman, a Despacho Ceremony, sound baths, or meditation therapy but maybe felt reserved or unsure, this is the perfect place to try these things without the commitment of a dedicated retreat.
The included wellness programs allow guests to cater to their mind, body and spirit. A schedule of rotating complimentary mind and movement classes are available for all guests to enjoy. While staying here, you can pack your schedule or go light with a choice of over 20 rotating group classes, ceremonies and rituals- the choice is entirely yours. An example of the daily schedule is as follows:
7:00 am Pranayama
8:00 am Soft Hatha Yoga
9:30 am Meditation
11:00 am Meditative concert
12:30 pm Full Body Workout
3:30 pm Forgiveness ceremony
5:00 pm Hatha Vinyasa Yoga
You can choose to attend as many of these classes as you wish or simply just relax by the ocean or one of the sprawling infinity pools.
The cuisine here is pure gastronomic bliss. Dine at one of the four on-site restaurants with menus that are health conscious with a plant-based focus (don’t worry they have beef, chicken and seafood too.) At Palmaïa, the priority of the chefs is to use minimum amounts of processed or packaged foods. In fact, over 90% of the dishes are prepared with natural ingredients, made in-house from scratch. The food here is also not made with any refined sugars but instead everything is made with natural sugars like date sugar or cane sugar. Many of the dishes also include homemade fermented food options and most of the vegetables are from farms with organic regenerative agricultural practices in the center of Mexico. On all the menus you will find creative and delicious mocktails, with the option to add alcohol.
You will not find bottled water here. Palmaïa practices sustainability and eliminates single-use plastic bottles and containers. Water is filtered throughout the property, so you can feel at ease drinking the water and brushing your teeth with the tap water. Upon arrival guests will also receive a personal water bottle to refill throughout their stay.
The Spa is a retreat within a retreat bringing guests to another level of healing. Nestled in the lush jungle behind the main buildings of the property are the five completely private treatment casitas. Each is connected by cobblestone paths that part through the dense vegetation. You will feel like you are truly immersed in the heart of a beautiful jungle paradise. Each casita features a secluded view of the lush foliage with floor to ceiling windows. Choose one of the many treatments offered like detoxifying massages and body wraps, hot stones, aromatherapy, healing crystals and Reiki sessions. After treatments, guests are invited to enjoy the spa’s natural cenote, an underground limestone cavern filled with cool, clear rainwater.
The beach here is nothing short of spectacular with some of the bluest water you will find in the Mexican Caribbean. With the plentiful beach beds located on the gorgeous white sand beach, guests can lounge comfortably while taking in the beautiful scenery.
The rooms at Palmaïa are designed to provide a luxurious and comfortable escape. Whether you are looking for a ground-level retreat with the ability to swim out from your lanai or a top floor room with an ocean view or a suite with a separate area for private yoga and meditation, the options here are endless. The rooms at Palmaïa are completely cruelty-free with zero use of leather and are feather-free as well. All suites offer a king bed or two queen beds with large outdoor spaces.
This resort is family friendly, however the resort aims to keep the child occupancy at 10% to ensure a peaceful experience. There is also an exclusive adult-only section ensuring a relaxing retreat for your wellness journey.
