Dreams Playa Mujeres: A Family Friendly All Inclusive Resort in Cancun, Mexico
As a travel agent, I have sent many happy families to Dreams Playa Mujeres as well as planned a successful destination wedding here, so I was excited to finally visit with my own family! We loved our stay and I know you will too. Keep reading for my full review of Dreams Playa Mujeres.
As a travel agent who travels frequently with my family, I have been to a lot of resorts, and I must say this one is at the top of my list for the best family all-inclusive resorts in Mexico!
LOCATION
Dreams Playa Mujeres is located in Playa Mujeres, Mexico. It is just 35 minutes from Cancun International Airport within a gated community shared with other luxury resorts. This area feels very private and secure due to the fact that only people staying at the Playa Mujeres resorts are allowed past the security gates. The beaches in this area are also some of the best in Cancun! Playa Mujeres historically see less seaweed than other areas of Mexico making this a great vacation spot for beach lovers.
The beach
The AAA Four Diamond Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort is set along a private stretch of beach. The beach here is both wide and long with white sand & blue waters and perfect for walking. As I had mentioned, there is very little to no seaweed. In the water they have two gigantic inflated floaties which my teen and tween loved climbing and jumping off! There are also plenty of beach chairs and cabanas. There is no need to rush to save your chairs at this resort!
LUXURY ACCOMODATIONS
The rooms at Dreams Playa Mujeres are some of the most spacious rooms I have stayed in. Each Junior Suite, which can accommodate a family of five, has either one king bed and a pull-out sofa bed or 2 queen beds and pull-out sofa bed. When we travel, our teens like to have their own beds, so this was the perfect room for us! In addition to each room having a sofa sleeper, every room also has a dresser, flat screen tv, marble bathroom with zero entry walk-in shower, separate toilet area, mini bar, mini fridge, and a private room service box. The service box is an awesome feature which is built in the wall so you can receive your room service without having anyone enter your room. When you are done with your food, simply place your dirty dishes in there and the staff will take them away!

PRO TIP: There are tablets in all the rooms, which can be used to see the entertainment schedule for the next day. View the menus in the restaurants and make reservations at the spa too.
There are also larger rooms and connecting suites that can accommodate up to 8 people for those looking for more space.

EXCHANGE PRIVLIDGES
One of the best perks to staying at Dreams Playa Mujeres is guests that are 18+ can use the amenities at the next-door property, Secrets Playa Mujeres. Having access to the restaurants, pools, and spa at Secrets Playa Mujeres elevated the level of luxury of our family vacation. It was like having two resorts for the price of one– a win-win for sure!
PRO TIP: If you have older children who sleep in and you are comfortable with it, head over to Secrets for an adults only breakfast.
THE POOLS
One of our favorite things about Dreams Playa Mujeres are the pools! There are several for all ages to enjoy or if you are like us– to bounce between each day! There is a zero-entry pool area for the little ones which has smaller water slides and a fun water splash area. My boys would be embarrassed to admit it, but they had so much fun playing here!
Although my boys had fun playing in the kiddie splash area their favorite was the two larger water slides. There was never a line so they could go on these multiple times a day.
Another fun pool at Dreams Playa Mujeres is the Grotto Pool with a waterfall and bar area in the middle pool section. Go under the pool waterfall and grab your favorite cocktail or mocktail at the swim up bar. Just the sounds of the waterfall will whisk you away to tranquility.
The pool closest to the ocean at Dreams Playa Mujeres is the main pool. Here the music is popping and the activity staff entertains guests all day long! There is also another swim up bar here.
There are also six hot tubs and a lazy river (which is exclusive to Preferred Club members).
Unlimited DINING
There are 10 restaurants and 13 bars at Dreams Playa Mujeres. There’s a wide variety of international cuisines including French, Japanese, Brazilian, Seafood, Mediterranean, and Mexican. Only the hibachi restaurant requires reservations which means you can just show up whenever you are ready. This is one of my favorite things about this resort for sure! This is also a wrist band free resort. We enjoyed the food at Dreams and found it to be superior to other resorts we have stayed at. Our family’s favorite place to drop into was Dolce where they serve premium coffee and delicious ice cream and milkshakes!
PRO TIP: To get a spot at the hibachi table you need to be at the front desk of the Fusion restaurant at 1 pm on the day of. I advise going about 10 minutes before. If you are staying in the preferred club, your concierge can make reservations for you.
THE PREFERRED CLUB
As I briefly mentioned before, there is a preferred club at Dreams Playa Mujeres. Staying in one of the preferred club rooms means you’ll get upgraded suites, access to a private lounge, a special concierge service and other exclusive, enhanced amenities, like access to beach cabanas and the lazy river which is tucked away behind the kid’s club. We did not have a preferred club room and because the lazy river was out of sight and out of mind, it did not feel like we were missing out on that benefit. Preferred club suites are also in premium locations around the resort.

KID’S & TEEN’S CLUB
The kid’s and teen’s club at Dreams Playa Mujeres were both awesome! My boys loved hanging out here, playing basketball and climbing the rock wall. For teens who get bored easily, this was a great feature!
The Explorer's Club is for kids ages 3-12 and open daily from 9 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. Here they have video games, big screen movies, treasure hunts, sandcastle contests and even a camping adventure.
For teens at Dreams Playa Mujeres there is the Core Zone Teens Club for ages 13-17. They have daily activities like bonfires and disco mixers and a vast array of sports and games. My kids both loved the bungee trampoline they had there which was supervised. Core Zone Teen’s club is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
PRO TIP: While your kids are at either the kid’s club or the teen club, head over to Secrets Playa Mujeres for a kid free meal or pool time!
THE SPA
Those seeking true relaxation need to head to the Spa by Pevonia. This massive 16,000 sq ft spa offers several relaxing massages and body treatments as well as a hydrotherapy circuit. Preferred club guests receive one complimentary hydrotherapy session per stay.
NIGHTLY ENTERTAINMENT
At Dreams Playa Mujeres the nightly entertainment was great! From themed, musical shows, talented performers and beach parties the staff did a great job of keeping everyone entertained. We also really enjoyed the Mexican Fiesta Night. (The Mexican Fiesta Night takes place once a week). The food was great, and the authentic Mexican décor and vibe was spot on! It was one of our favorite dinners we had there!
DESTINATION WEDDINGS
Dreams Playa Mujeres does a wonderful job with destination weddings! I booked a wedding here for a lucky couple in 2021 and they had a great planning experience and their guests had a wonderful time.
