Over the last couple of years, Cancun has seen several new resorts popping up along the coast and several more are slated to open in 2025 and 2026. I love being able to check out the new resorts and see if they are worthy of sending my clients there. Just three months after Secrets Playa Blanca opened, I was able to stay here for four nights and experience first hand this beautiful new resort.
I was invited to Secrets Playa Blanca as an attendee of the Romance Travel Forum Conference. This prestigious conference is for high producing travel advisors who specialize in romance travel such as destination weddings, honeymoons, adult only and couples vacations. I was honored to be selected out of hundreds of applicants to experience this new luxury resort. Keep reading to see if Secrets Playa Blanca would be the perfect all inclusive resort for your next adults only getaway.
Where is Secrets Playa Blanca?
Secrets Playa Blanca is located on the northeastern coast of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula and about 30 minutes from the Cancun International Airport. This area is known for its pristine, white-sand beaches, clear turquoise waters, and luxury all-inclusive resorts. Costa Mujeres is in a more secluded area unlike the bustling hotel zone of Cancun but still provides easy access to places like Isla Mujeres, the Riviera Maya and the gated community of Playa Mujeres where there are other great resorts like Dreams Playa Mujeres for families.
Secrets Playa Blanca Rooms
At Secrets Playa Blanca there are several different room categories to choose from. Tropical, ocean view, oceanfront and swim up rooms are the main accommodation types. There are also Preferred Club rooms. These rooms provide access to the private Preferred Club Lounge, where you can indulge in a premium bar, continental breakfast, and afternoon hors d'oeuvres. The Preferred Club suites also come with upgraded minibars, concierge services, and breathtaking premium views. You will also find the Preferred Club Beach Bar, Bali beds in the pool and beach area exclusively for Preferred Club guest and exclusive dining access at the Preferred Club Beach restaurant.
On my recent visit, I stayed in the Preferred Club Swim Up Room. This room faces the ocean and has a private furnished terrace that leads directly to a semi-private pool. The room itself is large just like the other Junior Suites at Secrets Playa Blanca. Each Junior Suite comes with one king or two double beds, a separate sitting area, a full bathroom including a a walk-in shower and jetted bathtub for two. Non swim up rooms in the Preferred Club section will have an outdoor tub on the balcony or terrace.
Restaurants at Secrets Playa Blanca
If you have read any of my other reviews, you know that I am picky about food! I am happy to report that the food at Secrets Playa Blanca was delicious. I especially loved the lasagna at Portofino. I would even go as far as to say it was the best lasagna I have had at an all inclusive resort!
At Secrets Playa Blanca there are seven different restaurants.
Market Café: International buffet serving a wide variety of dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Himitsu: Pan-Asian cuisine, including a teppanyaki grill experience.
Portofino: Italian cuisine with a menu of classic and contemporary dishes.
El Patio: Authentic Mexican cuisine in a vibrant and traditional setting.
Oceana: Seafood specialties with fresh, local ingredients and stunning ocean views.
Seaside Grill: Casual outdoor dining with a menu of grilled specialties and light fare.
Bordeaux: French cuisine with a sophisticated atmosphere and gourmet dishes.

Secrets Playa Blanca also features a 24-hour café and room service, so you can dine no matter what time of the day it is.
Activities at Secrets Playa Blanca
As I had previously mentioned, I was at Secrets Playa Blanca for a travel conference spending most of my days in the conference room, but I did pass by the pools and saw pool volleyball and water aerobics taking place. Everyone looked like they were having a great time! There is also tennis, pickleball, cooking classes, tequila tastings and non-motorized water sports.
Pools at Secrets Playa Blanca
At Secrets Playa Blanca there are several pools and several hot tubs sprinkled throughout the property. The Main Infinity Pool is centrally located and where you can take in breathtaking views of the ocean while sipping a drink from the swim up bar. There is also a Quiet Pool for those looking for a more serene and peaceful environment. This pool is the perfect spot located away from the main areas, providing a tranquil setting.
Last but not least there is a pool for Preferred Club Guests. Guests staying in the Preferred Club section at Secrets Playa Blanca get exclusive access to this pool which offers enhanced amenities and a more private experience.
Each pool area at Secrets Playa Blanca is equipped with comfortable loungers, umbrellas, and poolside food and drink service, ensuring guests have everything they need for a day of relaxation in the sun. The resort also offers poolside activities and entertainment for those looking for a more lively atmosphere.
The Beach aT Secrets Playa Blanca
One of my favorite things at Secrets Playa Blanca is the beach. I love a good beach and the beach here has beautiful water and soft sand. Because this resort is located in Costa Mujeres, sargassum is minimal compared to other areas in Cancun which makes Secrets Playa Blanca a great resort choice for beach lovers like me. There are plenty of loungers, a beach bar, and palapas.
The Spa at Secrets Playa Blanca
As I mentioned, Secrets Playa Blanca just opened in February 2024, and when I visited the spa was not finished being built. They did turn a few of the larger suites into a temporary spa. I did get a massage while there and even though it wasn't in an actual spa, it was still wonderful and relaxing. The spa was completed in September 2024 and is a sanctuary with over 18,000 sq ft consisting of a hydrotherapy circuit, sauna and steam room. There is also a full-service salon where you can get revitalizing skin and hair treatments, manicures and pedicures. A bridal suite and beauty salon is also located in the spa for brides to get ready before their wedding.
Getting married at Secrets Playa Blanca
The best part of being an attendee at the Romance Travel forum was getting to experience a wedding each night of my stay. That's right, the resort put on a full wedding celebration each night including cocktail welcome parties, wedding ceremonies and full on receptions. They were each incredible and gave me the opportunity to know exactly what a wedding at Secrets Playa Blanca looks like. As a destination wedding specialist, this was such a great opportunity for me to immerse myself in the wedding world!
I was able to experience a cocktail party at the Jungle Pool, a beautiful Beach Wedding Ceremony and the most incredible reception at the resort's Plaza Contoy. It was all perfectly executed and absolutely dreamy!
Whether you're planning an intimate gathering or a large celebration, each wedding venue offers its own unique charm and ambiance. Couples will love exchanging vows with the sparkling ocean as their backdrop. As an advisor who has worked with several resorts to plan weddings for couples, I can tell you that some resorts do a better job than others when it comes to pulling off a perfect destination wedding and Secrets Playa Blanca is one of those resorts. The wedding department is top notch and combines years of experience to ensure your wedding goes off without a hitch.
Each night we dined on different cuisine such as a themed Mexican night, a plated 4 course dinner with a delectable duck entree and some of the most delicious desserts ever! The food was great and the presentation was beautiful.
If you are considering a destination wedding in Mexico, I would highly suggest Secrets Playa Blanca!

Secrets Playa Blanca did not disappoint and I really enjoyed my stay. I thought the food was delicious and some of the best I have had at an all inclusive resort. I especially loved the modern, spacious rooms and the location of the resort as well. If you are wanting an adult only all-inclusive resort, I would recommend checking out Secrets Playa Blanca.
